Between 1945 and 1999, the USA intervened actively in 37 places around the globe. Reviewing this record, this respected Canadian reporter invites viewers to question who has perpetrated terrorism, defined by the US Army as "the calculated use of violence to attain goals that are political, religious, or ideological in nature . . . through intimidation, coercion, or instilling fear". Pilger explores aims of US interventions to maintain the USA as the dominant world power -- and how now neoconservatives in the Bush administration are championing the "war on terrorism" also for global domination. "Al-Qaeda’s atrocities have given the Bush administration the pretext it needed to use its unparalleled military supremacy to reshape the world . . . . The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have demonstrated to the rest of the world the costs of resisting American power; but the costs of not resisting are also high," Pilger declares. He prompts us to examine: What can we do?
