DUUC program "On Humanism"
Humanists -- including those who are not members of the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church where Humanists West of Chicago monthly programs are held -- please join us on Sunday morning, March 28 from 10 - 11 am or from 10:50 am - 12:30 for a program "On Humanism" billed as follows:
Mar 28 - On Humanism--for Non-Humanists & Fellow Travelers
This congregation was founded in 1953 as an intentional humanist
community affiliated with both the American Humanist Association (AHA)
and what has become the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). In
the mix of UUs today, humanists are plentiful. This program will let
you explore whether you share, respect or tolerate the world view of a
contemporary HUUmanist. Stephanie Hughes, sociologist and member of
DUUC HUUmanists, AHA, and HumanistsWestOfChicago.org, will offer
perspectives on how UU and other atheists and agnostics think and feel,
talk and operate. Attendees are invited to make brief comments near the
end of the program and to stay for the coffee time following to
converse with several humanists.
Wed like to have you Humanists with us for three reasons:
1. We want you to experience and critique the program given by one of our members.
2.
We want you to be available to converse during the coffee time
following the program with church members and friends who want to
become more familiar with humanism and humanists.
3. We want you
to consider becoming a member or friend of the congregation, to enjoy
its people and the congregational activities of your choosing and to
help it grow in humanist understanding. We hereby invite you to attend
any of the Sunday services at 9:15 am and 11 am, during summer only at
10 am. When you sign in as a Visitor with a Greeter on Sunday morning,
you will receive a church newsletter. Mike Werner, Jack Sechrest and/or
I/Stephanie Hughes can help you fill out a registration card to become
as a DUUC member whenever you may be ready.
