Doctor Prescribes National Health Insurance to Resolve Nation's Health Care Crisis

The Humanists Discussion Group invites you to attend the presentation of the ethical reasons for supporting Medical Care for All. The meeting will be on Wednesday, October 12th 2005, in Kreves Hall. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. We stop at 9 p.m. for informal conversation. Dr. Nike Mourikes comes to us from the Physicians for a National Health Program. Her speech is titled: “Doctor prescribes national health insurance to resolve nation's health care crisis.”

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session about the US health care crisis and the options for reform, with a focus on why so-called Health Savings Accounts won't work and why single payer national health insurance is the only solution which would cover the 46 million now uninsured.

WE will be providing child care from 7:20 through 9:20 pm.  You are encouraged to bring your children with you, however, we must meet the guidelines for the ratio of care givers to children that is set by DUUC.  Therefore, please let me know no later than  Monday evening by 8 pm if you are planning to use this service.

We will be meeting in the auditorium where we can use the sound system and microphones.  Because food and beverage can not be taken into the auditorium, we will have "coffee and" at 9 pm in Kreves Hall.  Please plan to stay for a few minutes and get to know each other better.

On the third Thursday, a group gathers for our "Philosophers' Lunch" at 1 pm at the Grand Mandarin.  Please join us if that day time schedule fits yours.  This month the date is Oct 20th 2005.  Make your reservations with Jack Sechrest.
