HOW DO YOU SPELL C-R-E-A-T-I-V-I-T-Y ?
Most of us think creativity is like talent: either you have it or you don't. But many psychologists and educators differ. And how-to books abound, offering to teach how to write, paint or too an oboe in a new and different way.
On November 14th from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in Kreves Hall, the Humanists of West Suburban Chicagoland will feature Soni Simpson, long-time DUUC member and recent recipient of a doctorate in transformative learning, conducting an interactive presentation and workshop, sharing her insights with the audience by Dancing All of Life: Discovering a New Self through Creative Expression and Transformative Learning. She will show how creative expression plays a role in transformative learning and how it can complement the cognitive process. How? By enhancing interpretation of the unconscious and increasing imagination of alternatives. In what way: By abandoning old habitual modes of interpretation that are no longer effective.
Dr. Simpson is a consultant and trainer with an expertise in creativity, imagination and innovation. She has 20+ years of brand management and industry related experience with multi-million dollar businesses. Her academic background includes teaching at DePaul University, the Yale Research Institute-Great Lakes Institute of Management (Chennai, India) and IIT/Stuart GSB, Elmhurst College, National Louis University and Robert Morris College.
