The Humanists of West Suburban Chicagoland are holding their fifth annual Humanist Picnic on September 2nd 2007.  This is the Sunday of Labor Day Week End.  Please respond to this post whether you are coming or not.  That will make the task much easier for me [Jack].

Let’s gather between 3 pm and sunset.  Come early; stay late.
Please be here at 5 pm.  It’s important, and here’s why.

We will have a jazz duo performing starting at 5 pm.  We want to video record the first set.  Also, during the evening, we want to record you and save for posterity your Humanist words of wisdom.

Curt Johnson (piano) and Karen Campbell (violin) make a great jazz team.  Once we get the first segment recorded we will start the dinner.  You’re going to like their performance.  You’ll see!

This is where you make a real difference.  We will provide the entrée and beer, wine and soft drinks (Pepsi, 7up and water).  You get to bring a dish to pass.  When everyone brings their favorite dish, the outcome is outstanding.  Think salad, dessert, and side dishes and bring one of your favorites.

This is a Chapter wide event and all Members and Friends and their partners are invited.

There will be a large tent in the back yard with tables and chairs.  Food will be served from the dining table inside.  Wine will be in the kitchen; beer and pop in the tent.

Remember to be here by 5 pm.  Please give us your full attention and applause during the first set.  This is the part we will record.

Directions from DUUC:  Take I 88 west to mile marker 115 at the Orchard  exit.  Go south about 7 ½ miles to Mill Road.  When you come to the bridge crossing the RR tracks, you will find the traffic light at the bottom of Orchard and Mill.  Turn left and go 3/10 mile
To Gates Creek Drive.  Go about 500 ft to the second left (at Willowwood Drive) and then go about 200 ft to the first right.
That will be Burr Oak Drive.  We are the eleventh house on the right.

You can also come through Oswego on Route 34 and go north on Orchard to Mill.  Then follow the same directions to 452 Burr Oak Drive.
